Time to breathe
Burnt out emotions
soul grinding tasks
heart aches and senseless pain
Just need to breathe
I know the trick
taught by Thich Nhat Hanh
I’ve practiced it in yoga all over the world
I just need a bell
to remind me
a sign
to breathe
but it is simpler than that
Just need to look outside
as I drive my daughter home
right outside
glorious pink sunset
The kind you pullover and watch
but she’s desperate
to get home
so I drive slow
telling her that her mother painted this sky
and breathe
Just a little
but it is a start
reminds me
I ring the bell
and breathe, just breathe
need to breathe
thank you sun
thank you moon
thank you breath

Hmmm – I always love wondering what inspires a poem. I like the depth my friend – a bit of loneliness infused.
I agree breathe in life, tomorrow…
Take care and have a great Thanksgiving with the family

sometimes we need a bell to remind us….your poem was such a bell for me…yes….breathe…
the yoga involvement was spot on…we should so stop….jut to breathe…thanks for sharing…pete
Your poem is Zen like itself, I’m left with a tranquil feeling – lovely writing!
I loved this “telling her that her mother painted this sky” – beautiful but I find a bit of sadness in it as well.
Something transcendent happens when we breathe, meditate, turn off the internal and continuous voice, monologue, worry. We listen, we hear, we join, we become and it’s all in the air we breathe and distribute to ourselves. Beautiful.
